The One About School Proms

So my lovely niece is about to graduate frm school thus there's gonna be a prom. How sexciting!! :)
Who else but this Aunty Fashion to be the fashion guru and consultant.
Being the most fashionably updated person amongs my family, i guess it is expected that my cousin (the mom) came to consult me over the ultimate question "What to wear".

Of course I have my ideas on top of my head. But, seriously being out of touch and faaarrrrrr frm my teens, I havent the slightest clue what teenage girls wear to prom these days let alone what "activities" kids do during prom apart from eating and dancing. What to do, we never had proms during our time......don't blame me.

But hey, I was once a teen so I do understand the absolute Teenage rules:
Rule 1: Never "Over dress". Why? Because VERY MALU!!!
Rule 2: Never "Under dress" Why? Because also VERY MALU!!!

Basically, teenages have issues with "face". They are constantly afraid of being embarrassed in front of their peers. It is not easy to dress up a teen.

So....I'm clueless as to what teens wear to proms....
Anyone kind enough to share with me? Especially Malaysian teenagers.......would be grateful for your insight.
do you girls do-up your hair at the saloon for prom night....
do you girls put on make-up.....
do you wear fluffy puffy dresses or just a simple little black number??
anyone have pictures pls share it with me!!!

Thanks a bunch!!!

Claypot

[Note:image from google images]

Havent toyed around with claypot cookings for ages....
soooo....during my grocery shopping last Saturday at giant had me standing infront of pots and pans that eventually landed a RM14.99 claypot in my cart.
Oh goody. A new toy!! teeheee
I guess i bought them because of the blue flower motifs. Such a Vain pot!! (pun entirely intended)

Just thought I'd share something with you girlies out there. If you ever buy a claypot, make sure that you soak them in water for abit before using.........and then the first dish EVER you shall cook with them should be porridge. Yes cook Porridge first before you cook anything else with it!!!
Yup, I just learn that myself too....its written on the instructions that by doing so, you'll have the claypot function to its fullest and best...whatever that means. :)

So I did cook porridge. And then I cooked some beef noodles (didnt use the claypot for that of course), turns out pretty yummy too....and i found my beef tenderiser(is this how u spell it) at good'ol Giant.

I'm now planning to cook chicken pongteh one of these days if I can manage. Now where is my gula melaka I bought from Melaka beginning of the year.

Pretty Laptop Backpack

I need a new laptop bag .....because I'm not sure how long my current backpack could last me. Its breaking up..........totally breaking up.......probably due to my overly abusing it. sorry bag....

Being in the corporate world having product presentations and demo as my work portfolio, it is inevitable to carry my laptop everywhere I go on a daily basis.
However, not being a techie means I do not have the license to dress casual. I have to dress-up, fully made-up, that means with my kiss-ass 3 inch pumps, power suits and sometimes sexy mini's. hey.......we've got to flaunt it like it or not because if you dont have boobs.....clients most likely wont want to meet up with you. FACT.

With that, I am very very picky when comes to choosing the PERFECT laptop bag. The reason being very simple. The typical slingbag that laptops come in? Its a pain to carry. Especially when sometimes your customer's location isnt that all easily accessible. After carrying them the whole day, my right arm feels like its going to fall off. On top of that, dont forget that as a women, there is our mandatory handbag for our handphones, purse, mini-make-up bag, sweets, my pda, some assam boi, pens, namecard holder, mentos, more pens, spare earrings.......ok u get the drift....

IT is NOT easy to balance oneself with a heavy laptop slung over a shoulder, carry a handbag on the other hand, trying not to step on unlevel grounds, potholes.....etc...
Once I was carrying too many things and I just swayed from left to right to left like your grandfather's clock going tick tock like that to eventually land on my big fat ass while walking down the steps. TRUE STORY.

Therefore, since then I've decided to use a backpack instead which I find is much much better because I get to balance the weight on both my shoulders, and I have free hands to hold my handbag. Plus, the blardee compaq doesnt seem like it weighs 10KG.

The bagpack that I got looked pretty corporate and professional. Which is why I like it.
However, to find a replacement is such a difficult tasks!! ALL laptop backpacks in Malaysia look like a hiker's bag!
Sporty and macho looking.......
some look like college boy's bag.....
sigh.....
I totally cannot be using those bags what with my powersuits and all!! I will look totally weird. yucks...

So....I'm still searching for the right bag...
These are some I've found from the Internet which I hope that someone will eventually bring them into Malaysia. (minus 50% off the price tag....hehe).

Being in a little Christmassy mood.....I tot the red one looks stunning.....
The Laptopshop has quite a variety and lovely looking ones too...although I tot the pricetag was a little rediculous.
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk

Then I found this site. Metrobag.
Wow.....I think this must be the "it" bag for me!!! I'm really contemplating to customize mine!!
Check out the website.....its so cool, you can choose the type of skin you like for your bag.....
I kinda like this pink tweed ones. Very professional looking and fashionable too!!

Check out the site at Karab http://www.karab.com/prod_metro.html#

hmm.....I know I'm looking for backpacks....
but these slingbags I found at MobileEdge has totally caught my attention.

OMG OMG!! I think I found THE ONE!!!!!
Check out these beautiful babies.....

I WANT ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope they ship to Malaysia!!!!

MobileEdge rocks!!

PS: This is NOT a paid post. Its my own research n findings. Just thought I'd clarify that.

Talking about Lipsticks

I've just realized howmuch chemical I have put into my body.

Take a look at this:

The one on the right is a pink lippy from Red Earth. I did not like it that much and therefore it is still pretty much untouched albeit occasionally.
The one on my left was once my favorite lippy. Its from Cybercolors. I left it in my office and therefore my hand just reaches out for it everytime my lips felt dry.....thus........its almost gone by now. WOW!! I normally never finishes my lippy unless I really really like them. Like my maybelline watershine in juicy bubblegum.

Gulp....imagine I practically "ate" them because I believe while 50% might have gone to the tissues, 50% is inside ME!!! Yucks.....Imagine chompping on lipsticks as food.
Hmm.....Now i do hope they make lippy's from natural ingredients......because this cant be good for digestion.

Do Lipsticks Expire?

Yup. Of course!!
Many women of old (my mom and my MIL included) almost NEVER throw away their old lipsticks. I know expired lipsticks when i smell one. It smell like WAX.
As far as I know, lipsticks doesnt lasts a life time. Usually it lasts between 2-4 years. Anything more than 5 years should be chucked away. So the chinese say "if you dont rid of the old, the new wont come...."
And sooo.......I've decided to re-organize my current collection and chuck away some old lippys.
Here is the new box i stole from my hubby. Its actually a pretty box that comes with his birthday gift (a tie).

OK. Gotta run....I've got appointments today. Toodles!

Keeping It Real...(Warning: Long........whiney post)

I have many many things on my mind.....
Thats why I cant make up my mind on what to blog about.

First of all, Like what my title today says....Keeping it real. I'd like to keep my blog as it is. Although many out there have succumb to the word of money making online and what nots. I still feel that an innocent, real and personal blog like mine should be kept as is.
Of course I do have my google adsense on, I also took on a paid advertisement from (Qtones- the colored contact lense that you see on the top here), recently sign-up with Payperpost too. Really, money is indeed knocking on our door every minute and It is pretty hard to resist when it seems to be so near......reachable within arms-length.

Truth is, the thought indeed flashed across my mind to turn my blog into a powerhouse-Money generating channel. However, It would be really sad to have lost my personalization and turn it into something commercial. Its just too sad. And, I cant make myself to do that. Which, I do think that my readers would be grateful. Sometimes, we just want to read about "honest opinions" as well as a true, not-so-perfect story about a life of a person. Which, in this blog case would be about "me". Ms.Fashionasia.

Of course, I would do reviews most of the time. I'd like to let you all know that untill now, non of my reviews are paid reviews. I used my own money to purchase them and I review them from my own personal experience. It would be great If I'm given products for free so that it wont be such a burden on me. But well, I dont write for the sake of money and I write for the sake of others. As nobel as it may sound, it is the truth. I just want people to be aware of the good and bad of the stuffs before they embark on a buying spree. This is my main motive for writing reviews. Why? Because I would love to have people telling me what to expect from something that I want to buy too.

I feel quite sad that now, there are many paid review programs going on around the blogsphere and I really dont know if what i'm doing is worth it anymore. I've signed up with PPP. I have yet to get my blog approved. But, will see how it goes. But you guys have my word for it. I will only do reviews on fashion and beauty products. Please dont hate me because It will eventually fund my products buying spree for more reviews. :) I will keep it as real as possible.

----------------------

On another note,
Lots of projects and work coming along in the office, which brings me to almost nill amount of time for anything else except my mandatory read-reply emails. Hey I'm not complaining. Having projects coming in is a good thing.....for performance sake. On top of that, my immediate superior have just talked to me about something exciting for next year, and lets just say that I'd be elevated. Really elevated to a very good position.
Its good news, but it also comes with lots and lots of heavy responsibilities.
Whats making me even more stressed out is that recently, an old business acquantance of mine have joined a pretty huge company and is promoted as assistent GM! OMG..... AGM!!! and.....looked me up to join him in a pretty covetted position.

I am so torn. I am too overwhelmed.
At 1 hand, I have decided last month to quit my job and be a housewife. Probably go into some online business and work from home.
On the other hand, I'm at the peak and prime time of my working career. It is such a waste to throw it all away.
Im so torn. I want to make it big in the coporate world and this is my opportunity.
But i'm tired.......
It will be very very stressful........
I'm not sure how I can juggle between work and family.........
Decisions decisions......
Im in dire need to decide WHAT DO I REALLY WANT TO DO
and it is a tough one.

Full Proof Necklace For Any Important Occasion

Every one of us need a full-proof necklace that can be worn out on any important occasions that requires us to dress up. And most importantly, it must be able to match evening dresses of every color.

That was basically my critirea when I made this.

I was bored of my usual pearls hubby bought for me frm India. Although I love them, they are a bit of a bore to me already and also, I find that those pearls matches best with my cheongsam and non other than that.
Thus, I made this sometime last year when I had a wedding dinner to attend. I had already a couple of earrings using the same crystal combinations that I can match with thus, I only need to make the necklace. I was wearing a black and white low-cut halter top and it was perfect for sparkly crystals. I was pretty happy about the outcome. I used chains for the ends so that I can adjust the length whenever I want to, which is great as I can even wear them as a choker when the dress calls for it. Its still my favourite and I would wear them on special occasions.

Initially, I started off doing this. But......it seems somewhat too grand and thus my inspiration snapped....and I didn't know what to do next. So I scrapped the Idea. Teehee....Its still pretty though.....well, untill inspiration hit me again.....I'd just leave this as it is.

Cheerios!! I'm going to bed. yawwwn.....

Limited Edition Datuk Michelle Yeoh Loreal Lipstick

Well..........As you fashionista's would notice already that Loreal, with their creative marketing have launched the limited edition "Color Riche Star Secrets" Lipsticks.
These lipsticks are beautifully endorsed with signature in gold of various popular icons as well as Loreal's embassador. Each person representing their unique colors.
When I saw them, I wanted to buy ALL OF THEM!!! The colors are really really gorgeous. Not to mention that it is "Limited Edition"....although I have no idea how many they produced, but the word limited edition almost never fail to make me buy one as keepsakes.

I was browsing the counter with all those pretty colors, and having no testers available for me to try out the colors, it was pretty tough choosing the perfect one. I was totally tempted to get "Aishwarya Rai" because of "her" and not the color because....she is absolutely the most gorgeous bollywood actress I've known. hehe.....and also because her color is "nude", which is a very popular color among the hollywood's rich and famous. I also like the color endorsed by Michelle Reis, another one of my favourite beauty. However, the patriotic side of me was totally proud of our very own Datuk Michelle Yeoh....and in the end I thought.....oh well, her color "Coral Magic" is indeed very special. Its slightly peachy orange with golden shimmers. I dont have much such colors in my lipstick collection anyway so I thought it would be a great color to have. I bought it at RM28.88. I tried it out yesterday and I love the color!
I would probably over the months, collect 1 or 2 more of them. I just need to decide which color (or which stars) I like better.

Have you gotten 1 yet? As Loreal would say : " Its worth it!" :)

Sick to the K......

Had been unwell during the weekend and so I stayed home today.
Been feeling much better since morning ......Fever gone....

even with the aircondition + fan on!
And now even after a shower, I'm still sweating!!
Man I feel like an old women having menopause!!
Anyone knows what kinda symptoms are these? It all started when I had hot and cold chills...then a fever....and then cold sweats.....oh...and i also had diarrhea....and pmsing...

Beading is an expensive hobby

Beading is indeed an expensive hobby. If you see those stalls selling earrings at RM10 for 4.... Don't have to think twice about it.....just buy lahhh.....of course the materials that they use are mostly plastic and doesnt cost much, but the effort making them are worth RM10 enough to me.

Seriously beading is an expensive hobby.
Just recently I noticed a new bead shop open at 1U called beadbox. I wasnt sure if it is the same one that used to be over at the old wing, but now this new shop is at the new wing. Since I needed some findings, I thought I'd drop by and buy 1 or 2 items.

In the end here is my selection.

And guess how much it cost me??

RM 75!!!!!
WOW....I can buy a set of jewelry from Denni or Kenji already.......and the loot i got? cant even make 1 single set loh!!

Peek-A-Boob Woos

Living in Malaysia, our typical office wear is quite boring actually. Since the tropical weather is so hot, people hardly wear power suites and blazers. Most of the ladies will go with the safe plain'ol button-up long sleeve shirt.
I however, prefer to have my ensemble with added varieties. Although I do own quite a number of shirts, I do find it a pain to find suitable ones and I really dont like to wear them because it is really uncomfortable.

Why? Well, lets just say that I hate those peek-a-boob woos that I often face when i wear shirts. Ah well, the price I gotta pay being well endowed with fine assets...
haha....Well, the reason I find it hard to find a perfect fit for shirt is that If i choose a size that fits me just right, then it would be tight around the chest...the buttons over stretched and my bra showing. However, if i find a larger size that fits the chest area, then it will look too baggy and there will be no waistline. It is frustrating!

I bet many ladies out there face the same problem too. Unless you have a figure of a teenage boy....then shirts are definately made for you!!

So, below are some looks that I like to go for to overcome my woos, these are taken from esprit webstore.

first of all, wear a spaggeti strap cami inside. unbutton the top 2-3 buttons.

Orrrrrr..........you can always buy those with no front openings. I have one that is with a full concealed zipper front. I also have another one with a side zipper.

oh i just love the lace here....looks great rather than plain ol boring ones....

And....lastly, you can use large accessories to cover up the boob area, or like me, i like to tie a scarf the same way the model uses her accessories here......

Next post....I made new jewelries! :> Tried to upload the pics but the connection is bad. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
