Merdeka 2008

I have so much to say but i really don't know where to start.
Perhaps i'd do this in point form, just to jot my thoughts down.

1. This year's Merdeka celebration is the most pathetic that i've seen. I barely see any bendera(flag) around.

2. Usually during merdeka month (August-Sept), we'll spot lots of cars with the little flag on top. Most cars have them.....My mom used to love that......but this year i dont see any flag on her car either. My mom is very patriotic and passionate about Malaysia. I guess things change when we get dissappointed.

3. Usually, we get free flags distributed(usually at the toll) so that we can put them on our car. I haven't seen any free flag giveaways this year. Cut cost???

4. Government decided to cut cost on Merdeka celebration. HUH?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
I know you shouldn't be spending extravagantly. But cutting cost on MERDEKA celebration is such an insult to the country and Tunku Abdul Rahman. I mean, we are celebrating our nation's INDEPENDANCE day wey....does that mean anything to you?? This expenses should come out from the Tourisme department. If we have a low-key and pathetic celebration about our Country's Independence, do u think we can ever bring in more tourists? People would think twice about coming here. If the gov thinks lowly about the Merdeka celebrations, than how do you want your "rakyat" to be passionate about Merdeka?

5. Happy "Birthday" ???? oh my god. Please go and read up your history books man....i've been trying to educate ppl through my blog post for the past 3 merdeka's about the difference of "independence day" and "birthday" but i think the people still doesnt get it. Malaysia's "birthday" is NOT 31st August ok. Its on 16th SEPT when "Malaysia" is formed. sheeshh people.....

6.All the shouting about "balik china" ..."pendatang haram".....etc.... makes me so disappointed. I've always acknowledged myself as a Malaysian. Not Chinese. But Malaysian whenever questioned by a foreigner. However, lately i start to question my own identity. I want to belong, but how to belong to someone who doesn't want to own me?

Well......thats all im going to write before i get all depressed...

Happy Merdeka Lah.........

[edit] in this time....i can't help but to wonder how better off we would be if we never achieve "independence" in the first place. Perhaps we would be better off with the English as our leader? hmmm.........

Buy contact lenses online

I heard that i'm suppose to stock up on things i might need to use because during confinement time, i CANNOT go out shopping....and may not even have the time to do any shopping for 1-2 months.
With that, i began to search around for online stores that I can do my shopping and purchases from home.

I'm glad to find www.lensshopper.com because then i can order my disposable lenses online!
I actually prefer wearing lenses than my glasses because i tend to get dizzy with glasses and its uncomfortable. Where else if you get a good contact lens, sometimes you even forget that you are wearing them.

Lensshopper has an interesting site especially if you are considering buying colored contacts.
You can select the model that looks the most like you. (I kinda hope they have an asian model for this). Then choose the color blends that you desire. If you think it looks great on the model, it'll probably look great on you too. I really like Freshlook colorblends because it is very natural.
I've tried Green, Amethyst, Gray, hazel, brown, blue.... probably most of the colors already....hehe :)

Do check out the site, they have some great offers going.

Forever 21

The thing about being pregnant is that, you'd get to spend on new clothes....not out of impulse, but out of necessity.

I have walked into various maternity shops around but i could never part with RM150 for a dress that i'd only be wearing for a couple of months. Plus, maternity clothes are kinda ugly. hehe....not all are but....most of them are very obvious that they are maternity clothes so i definately will not be able to wear them post pregnant.

But the other day, I was at 1Utama and walked into Forever21. And i went crazy!!!! haha......I never bought anything from Forever21 because i feel that the price here in Malaysia is marked up so high as compared to the price you see online. But.....they are having sales!! and this time, the sales are pretty genuine. Up to 70% discount.
Plus, there are plenty of clothes that is so suitable for maternity!! The cutting is great, the material is comfortable, they fit like a glove! I can even fit into an M size.......much to my delight. The best part is, they are much cheaper than Maternity clothes!!!

In all, i bought 4 pieces of clothes. 2 at about RM46 down from a RM99 pricetag.
Another 2 for RM60something. (forgot wats the original price). But i love them so much!! And i can even see myself wearing them post pregnancy. Which is really great.

Check out some of them(suitable for preggers) on sales from the www.forever21.com site

drools....just go checkout the sales section

Inflation is a serious issue that is effecting many Malaysians

I've just finished reading the article from thestar about stretching the ringgit.
I believe this issue is more serious than what the government thinks.

Sad to say an average Malaysian earn meager income compared to other countries, and a drasting 40% increase in something so essential in our Malaysian life such as petrol price have absolutely increased much burden. Not forgetting the domino effect that entails. The situation is worst than you can think off.

I'm just thankful that both my husband and I earn a comfortable income. However, that doesnt mean that we do not have burdens. Although we may not feel that much of a pinch, I have definitely witnessed the effect on the people around us. The hubby even worries for his staff and that recently have decided to provide additional allowances for them. I have also personally increased my contribution towards my parents too. I guess I can live with buying lesser clothes and make-up every month. :)

Anyway, what i have witnessed firsthand is that there are many people around me that is suffering from the inflation that hit the country till these people have not enough to stretch till the end of the month and had to resort into borrowing money. Sometimes when you make just enough, any accidental expenses such as car repair, medical fees..etc are difficult to cover. Recently a restaurant that I frequent had declared that it'll be closing down end of the month. It saddens me because its a good place for food. However, I was told that business had declined up to 40% ever since the increase of petrol price. How to sustain the business??

As the country's independence day is approaching nearer.....my heart sinks further when i read the newspaper and realize that the government is busy with their political/personal wars against each other that the citizens suffering are neglected. It takes them less than a second to decide on increasing the petrol price and now that the crude oil price declined, it takes them so long to decide to reduce some. I guess another day of delay means more big bucks for them.......

Personally, I've been more prudent these days while i thank God i do not suffer as what I've witnessed some of my business acquaintances do. I am aware of the situation around me and i try to control my expenses. With a baby on tow, i would expect my expenses to increase soon. I've never bid an eyelid or calculate twice when i go shopping. Normally when i see something that i like, i just buy them if i feel that i can afford them. But now, i just stop myself from doing so. I also avoid frequenting shopping malls that often. Which explains a rather decline in my make-up hauls....hehe....i guess i don't need 100 pallets of different eyeshadow colors when i can live with the essential colors. :)

Cool Maternity Clothes

As i'm in my 5th month now, I'm beginning to feel much better about myself. I hated looking fat for the past few months.......but now that the bump is more visible, i'm recognized as being pregnant rather than just looking unforgivingly fat. And for the first time in my life, i do not feel guilt conscious being fatter than usual or when i over indulge in food.

I'm probably heading over to the mall later today to buy a couple more Maternity Clothes as i'm running out of clothes to wear, particularly working clothes. And since august is the mega-sales period. The time is just right.

I never knew maternity clothes can be so cool until i saw the cool Juicy Couture Maternity clothings.

Bellydancematernity.com is a cool site for maternity shopping. I just love the beautiful clothes and check out the diaper bags!! ohmymy....so yummiee....very fashionable indeed!
I love the Maternity dresses most because it looks so feminine and yet so comfy.

Pregger Fun

oh boy........pregger fun is.....

walking into a shopping mall with sales all over.....
and spotting a coveted pair of RED MARY JANE PUMPS WITH CHUNKY HEELS AT 50% off
AND at MY EXACT SIZE!! And....... NOT BEING ABLE TO BUY THEM because I won't/can't be wearing them for at least another year or so. Booohoooo!!!

What is BB cream??

OK....just a little knowledge sharing session with those whose wondering what on earth is a BB cream??!!! (before i review my skinfood BBcream)
Well, BB Cream... register this word into your make-up vocabulary cos its getting pretty wide spread now.

The double B stands for "Blemish Balm". I guess with that, you get a better understanding of what BBcream does. It is getting extremely popular in asia and getting more and more exposure in the west too. From what i've read about it, it all started in Korea where an actress had undergone laser surgery....and the BB cream was in fact part of her daily use as cover-up as well as treatment process to recovery. It was said to be a miracle cream and because of her testimony, BBcream had become highly sought after.

The difference between BBcream and other make-up applications is that it is a skincare/healing product combined with make-up. While regular foundation liquid does nothing to your skin , BB cream is supposed to do wonders to your skin while covering up. There are many types of BB cream. Some is said to have whitening properties, some anti wrinkle, some to even out skin tone and lighten blemish scars....etc... But all of them works as moisturizer, sunscreen, make-up base and foundation too. So thats whats great about BB cream, apart from make-up to cover up your scars...it is also said to be a healing cream....though you should still stick to your regular skin care regime.

BB cream can be used as a make-up base before foundation. Or some will just skip foundation alltogether as it already has tinted color.

From what i've read, there are couple of well known brands that do carry BB creams in their product range. I've heard that BRTC BB cream is one of the best. Other than that, perhaps Missha and Skin79 i've heard have quite a range of bb creams and received great reviews........
Other brands are such as skinfood, the face shop, Etude......etc
