You know you're getting OLD when...

you go for games, and your knee hurts......

I play badminton for the sake of exercise like once a week. I know its not enough excercise playing just once a week but thats all that i can afford (time) for now.....

I've never had body aches before, not till recently.....
I use to be quite an active person. I don't really consider myself as an athlete cos i cant run!! serious....i'm always like the last or second last place if there is any race....I'd be alongside the fat lady although i was hardly fat.

However, i'm a girl for games. I use to play volleyball, basketball, badminton, handball and tennis back in school days. I was also pretty active in dancing be it traditional dance or modern dance. I'm also a gymnast. I use to represent my homestate in the rythmic gymnastics as i won the gold medal for the ribbons event in state level. Thus i would consider myself a pretty "flexible" person. So to speak.

Never have I ever thought that i would suffer aches here and there......sigh!!!!
As im writting this, my knee hurts!!!! arggh!!!!!!!

I'm...getting....OLD.....
as much as i hate to admit it......

:(
boohoo!!

Fashionasia, Over N Out!! and i mean Literally!!!! (i'm beat)

Do not to fear and believe that old age is a time of spiritual/or physical deterioration or the beginning of an era in which all the hard worn attributes of maturity vanish and the reasoning faculties vanish.

Old age must be viewed as a highly creative part of living with much wisdom. The mind actually becomes more itself, freer to use more of its abilities, allowed to stray from restricted areas, to assimilate, acknowledge and create.

The chemical and hormonal changes that occur are conducive to spiritual and psychic growth

In many cultures, an individual is not considered in terms of his age at all and the numbering of age is regarded as insignificant. It would do us all good – young, middle age and old alike – to forget the number of your years because so many of the beliefs are limiting in those ways. Youth is denied its wisdom and old age denied its joy.

Actually the point of reality and power is, once more, in our current experience. The old lady at her age is drawing upon qualities and knowledge that “existed” in her past or “will exist” in her future by acting as if the ages are probable (simultaneous).

Our own conclusions and beliefs about age become fact in our experience. If you could convince yourself that you were ten years younger, or ten years older, then it would be faithfully reflected in the environment.

The same pattern can be seen in the elderly and ideas of retirement. For hidden within them is the belief that at one time or another, at a specific age, your powers will begin to fail. These ideas are usually accepted by the young and old alike. In believing them, the young automatically begin the gradual conditioning of their own bodies and minds and the results will be reaped. So to stay young, discard all the core beliefs about old age.

Badminton is very harsh on the knees due to the stop-start nature of movements required.

You might want to consider taking up yoga to strengthen the muscles needed to prevent aches.

Body aging is a fact of life, cartilidge inevitably will wear down, it's up to us to adjust to that. Don't fight your body, because even when you "win", you lose.

Btw, while the above commenter's sentiments are theoretically nice, I think mentally telling yourself you're 16 when it comes to sports, is not going to help much when you tear your tendons or have a heart attack after an aggressive squash game at 60.

You know you're getting old when the hawker lady no longer calls you "Leng Lui" but "Ah Soh" *sob sob*

Wah I'm so amazed at how similar we are!! When I was in school, I represented my school in rhythmic gym and also joined the dance team. And I was hopeless at running. I still hate running, but don't mind it when it has a purpose - ie tennis or frisbee.
