Does lipstick expire?
Yes they do..
Never believe what your mom says.....
my mom use to keep her lipsticks forever and never throw any away until its finish.
But, thats a big big big mistake.....because lipsticks do go bad...
So how do you know??? When you apply them on the lips and they smell like crap!!
heheeee........i have a box full of lipsticks..and some i've been using very often, some not.
So recently, i accidentally took my old Estee Lauder before a quick dash out.....and when i slip them on my lips.....yuck.....immediately i knew that the lipstick is spoiled and threw it away....yucks....it smells and feels like crap.....
Typically it is recommended not to keep a lipstick for more than 4 years. Thats the shelf life.
;) Time to throw the old ones....
I'm guilty of keeping lipsticks for too long cos I get free ones all the time from EL! Some, I haven't even touched them! :P
heheee...me too! i had the makeup set which gave me like 5 lipsticks?! then i didn't use even 1....a year went by and i decided to just give them away to my nieces before they all go bad...
ps. thanks for commenting! im really getting depressed over my bare comments section...wonder why my readers are not interacting with me these days...sob sob.
Hey, I was just looking at my collection of old lipsticks. It's probably older than 6 years and I haven't thrown them away. But haven't used them either.
As for your mum, I think it's common with ladies of the older generation. Mine is the same. Her lipstick last forever too and I've to get her new ones.
actually, i think the recommended good-to-use lifespan shouldn't be more than 1.5 years for lipstick. What you put on your face should be as fresh as what you put into your mouth! :D
sesame: heeehee...some seem to be able to last quite long without any hint of expiry...i dunno..but its better to clear them once awhile. :)
prettybeautiful: no kidding me?? 1.5 yrs?? wow thats brief...i remember reading its 4yrs...
anyways...as long as not too long lah.. :)
I can't remember the last time I used lipsticks. :(
